Our Successes
Awaken works with a clients at site, business and corporate level, across a number of industry sectors to design, implement and maintain solutions to operational problems. Examples of our work include:
Renewables are an increasing part of the energy mix. Awaken helped establish the management systems for rapid growth of a renewables division within a global super major. This included performance management and risk control during identification , development and delivery of wind, solar and battery sites.
Acquisitions bring with them potential hidden risks. Working for a global energy company, Awaken helped identify and quantify non-technical risks in the acquisition of small to large renewable companies across wind, battery, solar, EV mobility, B2B metering / trading and B2C retail. Risks were then ranked against impact on potential bid price.
Project start-ups are complex, dynamic and demanding. Awaken lead the non-technical risk management starts ups (including health, safety, security, environment, social performance and sustainable development) for exploration oil and gas new ventures in China, Qatar, South America, The Caribbean and North Americas.
Risk based, structured systems of control need to be regularly audited to maintain their health. Awaken provides personnel to execute structured reviews of operational performance at global bulk storage and distribution facilities for trading and retail operations of a leading oil and gas super major. Awaken has also trained a large number of internal auditors to execute risk based auditing to internal client standards.
Process safety and asset integrity represent major risks for large energy super majors. Awaken executed major hazard analysis for a global tanker fleet. This included facilitating all hazard identification exercises, executing assurance on product output and then the development of implementation and training materials. A range of serious incidents were also analysed at both operational, business and corporate level. Application of sound evidence based assessment of learnings, in addition to training and competence development of the team members, was required.
In conjunction with staff of the International Energy Agency, Awaken developed emergency scenarios, planned a 3 day international event (with in-excess of 140 delegates from the OECD) and facilitated the final Emergency Response Exercise (ERE5) workshop.
Managing culture is one of the more difficult challenges for leadership especially during periods of change and disruption. Awaken project managed the update of global health, safety, environment, security and social performance competence frameworks for in excess of 3,500 staff within one of the worlds largest companies. The final framework was benchmarked against international competence standards and supported by comprehensive implementation and end-user documentation.
Maintaining staff competence over time requires regular training interventions. Awaken developed and delivered health, safety, environmental and security competence training for the Trading and Shipping divisions of an oil major. Training was conducted face to face in Japan, UAE, Russia, USA, Singapore, London and The Netherlands. Training solutions for operational improvement and, service quality have been designed and delivered for major UK insurance and banking companies in support of turn-around and culture change initiatives.
